Crafting Change-Burhani Mubarakpur SHG
Burhani Mubarakpur Self Help Group, established in 1997, revitalizes the rich heritage of Mubarakpur, an ancient handloom weaving cluster renowned for its fine silk weaving since the 14th century. Praised by medieval traveler Ibn Batuta for its high-quality fabrics, Mubarakpur was historically famous for its luxurious satin weaves with zari motifs. Over time, the handloom skills declined, leading to a loss of fame. However, the Burhani Mubarakpur Self Help Group, with over 50 skilled weavers and artisans, has successfully revived this tradition. They specialize in producing sarees, fabrics, and accessories such as stoles and dupattas, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of Mubarakpur handlooms.
