Rangila Dhaga
Rangila Dhaga by Kalpana Das is an artisan based organisation from West Bengal that is into making of contemporary products from the traditional Gamcha fabrics. The aim is to add colour to the lives of women artisans through empowerment, respect and freedom. Rangila Dhaga or” Colourful Threads” portrays the creativity and vibrancy of the team behind it-by women for women. It derives its inspiration from nature’s beauty and versatility of Indian art and culture. Gamcha, also known as Gamucha, is traditionally a thin coarse cotton fabric used for towels, handwoven in almost every household of North East India. The multi-colour checks and striped fabric is vibrant and is handcrafted into jewellery and other accessories by these women artisans.
