Like Hyderabad wasn’t in love with handlooms already!
Last weekend saw the city come together in celebration of handlooms and artisanal products at the Kalinga Centre in Banjara Hills. GoCoop visited the tech city, this time with the second edition of Go Swadeshi, an exhibition and sale of handlooms from across the country. Hyderabad has always been a city with a penchant for arts and crafts with Shilparamam, their famed arts and crafts village and its perennial display of weaves and artisanal wares. This time we set up our exhibition with artisans from across the country setting up stalls to meet, greet and sell, to their fans in Telangana.
The Inauguration
The event was inaugurated by actress, dancer and founder of the Blue Cross, Hyderabad - Amala Akkineni - who visited the artisans at their stalls inspired our “Pose with a Piece you Love” selfie contest as well.

The event saw a wide display of ethnic weaves from Maheshwari silks, to Ikats, to Banarasi silks to Sambalpuri to Nuapatna to Kanchipuram, in a wide variety of products from sarees, to stoles to dupattas, and home furnishings like cushion covers, floor coverings and bed sheets.
And when you have handlooms from across the country in one place, you also have patrons visiting from far flung corners of the city...much to the delight of the artisans!
It was a chance for patrons to incorporate a new element of traditional Indian fashion and lifestyle into their homes and wardrobes.
