Description :
Indigo and black striped handwoven Nuapatna cotton ikat saree from the weavers of Sambalpur, Odisha. The pattern for this saree evolves through a process of dyeing the warp and weft threads prior to inter-weaving. This technique of ikat weaving on a traditional handloom is a beautiful art of poetry on the loom. This saree is woven with fish and flower motifs on the body highlighted as blue and black stripes. Ikat stripe design are woven on the border and striped floral designs for the black saree pallu.
